SCTV (abbreviation of Surya Citra Televisi) is a national private television station in Indonesia. SCTV is the second private television station in Indonesia after RCTI. SCTV was born on August 24, 1990 as a local television station in Surabaya based on Jl. Darmo Permai, Surabaya, East Java, where SCTV was originally established to serve RCTI events for the area of Surabaya. Although the date was set as the date of birth of SCTV, but only on 1 January 1993, SCTV obtain a license as a national television station in Jakarta. SCTV operational offices were gradually transferred from Surabaya to Jakarta, but the studio SCTV remain in Surabaya. Initially, the majority of SCTV shares owned by PT Bimantara Citra Tbk, through its subsidiary, PT Sindo Citra Media (now PT Surya Citra Media).
